Hi everyone! So this blog is a review for ALLL of the lipsticks Ive bought since May. Not very many as you can see! (Yay me) The swatches on my arm correspond to the order of the lipsticks in the picture. Lets start off with Viva Glam 1 from Mac. This lipstick is one of the best mattes Ive seen from Mac- not at all drying. The color is very deep and dark and pretty, though on me I dont know if its my favorite red. Id give this a 6 out of 10 (only because it doesnt look incredible on me. Just alright.) Second is Loreal's 181 Sheer Linen. I cannot even begin to describe howww much I love this formula. It goes on smooth and creamy and is not "sheer" at all. This would be a beautiful brownl nude for just about everyone. The only thing I dont like is the packaging. 9 out of 10. The next two lipsticks are Milani's 24 Black Cherry and 26 Nude Creme. Black Cherry is a jaw-dropping deep purple/almost black color that I couldnt live without. It would go great on all skin colors. Nude Creme is a cute pinkish nude that suits paler skin tones wonderfully. Both of these lipsticks have a kind of cremesheen finish. 9 out of 10 because of packaging. Next we have Rimmel's 111 Kiss of Life and 08. Kiss of Life is my all time FAVORITE red. Its not too bright and not too dark (like Viva Glam 1) and it suits my tan skin perfectly. It can be so hard to find the right red for your skin tone but this lipstick is perfect for me. It IS a matte. I love Rimmel's matte lipsticks because they are not drying at all and super smooth. Love! 08 is a nice brown toned pink nude and this is literally the perfect nude for me when I want a natural look. The finish is what I would consider creamy- and just perfect. Theres a reason why Rimmel is my all time fav when it comes to lipsticks ;-) 10 out of 10. Next is Black Radiance's Cleopatra. This color is a beaaautiful wine color that looks great on tan skin- the texture is soft and creamy and can be worn to dress up a plain outfit. Its not too dark, just the perfect medium plum color. This is my favorite lipstick (besides Kiss of Life) of this bunch! 10 out of 10. Lastly is Maybelline's Breathtaking Apricot. Im a little dissapointed with this one- it isnt like a liquid lipstick like I was expecting. Instead, its more like a sheer lip gloss :-( that being said, the color is not as bright as I would like it to be but it does give your lips a sheer coral-y tint. I was definitely expecting more of a lipstick because of the packaging, and if I would have known it was a lipgloss I wouldnt have bought it. Lipsticks > lipgloss. Id give this a 4 out of 10. Sorry maybelline :-( comment suggestions for my next lipstick review!

So I went to Target and Walgreens yesterday, and if you know me, you know I go straight to Rimmel's section in the makeup aisle. Rimmel is hands down my favorite drugstore makeup brand and also the reason why Im broke ;-P their lip products are always so pigmented and amazing, and one day Ill have every lip product from them. What I bought were 4 of their Show Off Lip Lacquers in Nude Eclipse, Comet, Apocaliptic and Galaxy. Nude eclipse probably suits lighter skin tones much better than mine, as it makes me look washed out. I still love the color, and will try layering it over a darker nude lipstick. Comet is a nice mauve color that makes me feel sophisticated, Apocaliptic is an in your face pink that I think EVERYONE should have, and Galaxy is an awesome sparkly plum color. I love the Show Off line because of how pigmented and shiny they are, and that they can also be matte. Theyre so easy to apply thanks to the doe foot applicator, and they dont feel sticky like some glosses. I also got two Exaggerate lip liners in Red Diva and Addiction. I love that these are more like pens than pencils, and you dont have to sharpen them. Lastly are the six lipsticks, #500 Berry Rose, #104, #126 Metallic Seduction, #84 Amethyst Shimmer, #14, and #375 Picadilly Pink. The swatches and pictures of the lipsticks are in the same order. Berry Rose, #104, and Picadilly Pink are all nice shades of pink/mauve. Metallic Seduction is an awesome sparkly metallic bronze/brown that looks AMAZING on tan skin. #14 is my favorite nude that I own, it is a matte and it is the PERFECT shade for light tan skin like mine. Amethyst Shimmer is a sparkly dark pink that can really add a pop of color to your lips. I love every line of Rimmel's lip products, and I always end up buying something anytime I go anywhere. I HIGHLY recommend these! For about 5$ each they are an absolute STEAL. If youd like to see an updated lipstick collection (not just Rimmel) or see all of my Rimmel products on my lips, or have any suggestions about lipsticks for me to try comment below! This was my very first VB bag. I got this "mini hipster" bag a couple of years ago at Great Wolf Lodge. I love crossbody bags, and I was younger and didnt have as much to carry around so this little bag was perfect. This bag is very small, 6x7 inches. The one thing that I love about it is all of the pockets and compartments, and the slots to put credit cards. Very useful if you are a minimalist- all this can carry is a phone, car keys, your id/cards in the slots, and money in the zippered compartments. I have shoved a couple of cereal bars in this along with my phone and keys, but it felt really bulgy so if you do get this bag just know that this can hold the bare minimum only. I forgot what the name of the print is, but anyways, I give this bag a 6 out of 10 just because of size.
This is my "Saddle Hipster" bag that I just recieved in the mail :-) I love this bag. I bought it because I needed something bigger than the mini hipster, and originally I was going to get the hipster bag but the shape was too rectangle-y and long for me. This bag is 10x10 or 10x11 and is a nice sized bag but not the biggest available. This bag is perfect for me because now I can have an actual wallet in it (wallet wouldnt fit in my mini hipster) along with my phone, keys, charger, ipod, snacks, etc. This has a HUGE pocket in the front and an equally HUGE zippered compartment in the back. Unfortunately, it doesnt have as many pockets and things as the mini hipster but it makes up for it in size. Id give this a solid 8 out of 10.
This is my Laura bag in Dogwood which I bought at the same time as my saddle hipster. This bag is AMAZING. I cant get over how roomy it is. 10x13x5 with a hard bottom. Instead of being able to zip this bag closed like my other bags, theres just a little clip/latch thing, which isnt my favorite because it feels less secure. On the inside there are small pockets perfect for pencils/ school supplies (this is my college bag) and a zippered compartment. On the front outside theres a small pocket with a zippered compartment on it. I will be using this bag to carry my school books and binders along with my notebook laptop occasionally. This is a simple, good sized bag and the only VB bag I have that isnt a cross body. Id give this a 7 out of 10 for lack of pockets/compartments. I love Vera Bradley bags because they are fun and colorful and there is an endless amount of patterns and styles. They are also on sale most of the time, but even regularly priced they arent that expensive for around 50+ depending on the style you get. My next buys are probably going to be a wallet and a laptop case! Comment which styles you have or want, and tell me what you think about VB! Xoxo
So today I went to Target to re-purchase my "airy fairy" Rimmel lipstick because it melted in my car this weekend. Of course at Target I got carried away and bought a couple more Rimmel lip products because they are my favvvv drugstore brand and I thought Id share with yall. So the first thing in the picture above is Rimmel's Show Off (Apocalips) Lip Lacquer in Big Bang. Wow, wow, wow. I never really liked red on me but I read reviews on this color and decided I had to try it. It is amazing. The doe foot applicator makes it so easy to apply, and I love how pigmented and shiny it is, and that it dries sort of matte. Its basically a liquid lipstick. Definitely going to buy more colors. Next is E.L.F's lip exfoliator, which is a lipstick shaped exfoliator. This is perfect for removing the dry patches or flakes off of your lips, and its so moisturizing and tastes like sugar... Yeah I happened to lick my lips after using it, judge me. Next is my 2nd "airy fairy" rimmel lipstick. I was so devastated when it melted I had to get a new one asap, and you can read about it in my "Lets Talk Lipstick" post. Next is Rimmel's "coffee shimmer" which is an amazing shimmery brown color that reminds me of the nineties look when brown lips were cool ;-D you can either do one coat for a light shinmery brown or layer it up to a medium brown color. This looks amazing on tan skin, and I definitely will be re-purchasing this whenever it runs out. Last is "summer angel" which is my least fav of todays pickups only because it doesnt have much of a color, its just like a really sparkly nude on me. It doesnt look so well all by itself, Ill probably need to use a lip pencil or layer this over another lipstick. It goes on very smoothly but very thinly and I havent decided if Ill wear it or not, but Rimmel has never dissapointed me before. If youve tried any of these products, comment below! Ah, Color Whispers. How I adore thee. These lipsticks are AMAZING- very hydrating and smooth to apply. They dry beautifully and create a stain, which I love. The only downside is I have to apply layers and layers if I want a very dramatic color. But if Im just going for a casual look, one coat is enough. The one on the left is #50 or "cherry on top." This is my first and favorite- think Mac's Candy Yum Yum but subtler. The middle is #95 or "mad for magenta." This is such a great blue based purple and would look AMAZING on all skin tones. The last is #100, "a plum prospect." I love this dark plum pigment, it really works on tan skin. These were only 5.99 and so worth it.
Mac, Mac, Mac. What would I do without you? Whenever I'm in need of a pick me up, I splurge on Mac lipsticks. I love how they have so many different textures and finishes and shades. These lipsticks are a whopping 15$- but hey, every girl deserves to be spoiled. The lippy on the left is Rebel- a great, deep purple. The lighting in my room makes it look brownish but I assure you, this is like Lorde's color that she always wears. I love this on any skin tone- the deep purple is dramatic but not in your face, and it is a satin finish- smooth and not so shimmery. Perfect! The one on the right is the infamous Candy Yum Yum. If you have dry lips, THIS IS NOT FOR YOU. Candy Yum Yum is a matte finish and I find it very drying. Moisturize your lips before trying on this one, ladies. This color is definitely in your face- but can look good on the right skin. I love how bright this is, but am not really a fan of how drying.
Sephora. The cheaper version of Mac- lovin it! These colors are 2024A and 2074A. The left is so beautiful- its like putting glitter on your lips! I love sparkly, so this was an awesome find for me. The color is close to my natural lip color so it looks as if I just dusted glitter on my lips. But feels so moist and good, almost like a gloss. The right is a nice orangey red that I like on me but prefer on paler skin. It is kind of drying, but not to the point where your lips feel like the Sahara. Two beautiful colors for I think 9$ each- still a little expensive compared to my usual drugstore buys but cheaper than Mac and still worth the buy.
So, these lipsticks arent the same brand and kindve messed up my flow. But, whatever. I didnt want to do a seperate post for each so here we go: the left is either Wet N Wild's cherry picking or dont blink pink- the name was on the wrapper but when I took it off and threw it away I forgot to remember the name :( minus 1 points for Griffindor. Anyways, I wasnt sure about this lippy because it was only 2$- but I love it! It feels good on my lips and this medium dark magenta is AMAZING on tan skin. But packaging, boo. The right is Revlon's just bitten kissable balm stain in Sweetheart Valentine. I love these lip pencils and always forget to pick one up in red but maybe one day Ill get around to it. This is easy to apply and almost just like Color Whispers "cherry on top." Love it!
You can never go wrong with covergirl. The color on the left I got on clearance at Target for 1$- its "dazzle" and SO perfect for spring. Its a moisturizing lilac and great for tan skin, maybe not so much you paler beauties. I love this lipstick, I was SUPER excited to get it for so cheap. The right was my very first lipstick- #415. This color is basically my natural lip color but better. If you have tan skin, this is a lovely nude-ish natural color. Goes on smooth and shiny, perfect for a natural makeup kind of day.
Maybe shes born with it- maybe its Maybelline! These colors are #715 Luminous Lilac and #635 Very Cherry. These are also my first lipsticks- this one is similar to Sephoras 2024A. Its a glittery version of my natural lip color and goes on so smooth- it makes me feel girly and pretty. Very Cherry is a dramatic bright red that I wouldnt wear ANYWHERE except somewhere fancy and only if I need a punch of color. Let me just say it- pale skin looks better with reds. Us tan people tend to look better in darker maroon reds, and it can be so hard to find a right thats right for you. If youre tan, I wouldnt recommend this red. But, it is a good lipstick and goes on smooth with a hint of shine. Just be careful to not look like a clown with it.
Last but not least- MY FAVORITE LIPSTICKS. I sort of like these even better than Mac- for 4.99 these lipsticks ARE A STEAL- they feel so amazing on the lips and the color is so pigmented, wow! Rimmel, I am in LOVE with you! Every time I go anywhere I cant resist buying another. Its like every shade is jusg a must have! First, we have #70 Airy Fairy. This is a light nice nude for tan or pale skin without making you look like you have the dreaded "concealer lips". Next is #124 Bordeaux. This is a brilliant dark purplish brown and AMAZING for tan skin. I love love love this color- its dramatic and pretty with a natural eye. Cant go wrong with Bordeaux! Next is #102 from Rimmels Kate by Kate Moss line. I am ADDICTED to light petal pink- this goes well with tan or pale skin and adds a pop of color. Perfect for spring! Next is also a Kate lippy in #109. This coral is pretty on tan or dark skin- I love wearing this for a summery look. Last is #09. This was the first Rimmel lippy I bought and fell in love with. This color is a dark dark cherry pinkish red brown- its almost hard to describe. Youll just have to buy it and see for yourself ;) Well thats it for now folks, if you want to see these lippys on my lips or see swatches, COMMENT! And, Id love if youd tell me YOUR favorite lipstick and give me some to try and review! Comment comment comment with suggestions!
This weekend was my prom, and I went to get my makeup done at Mac. I was nervous because most of the people that work there wear SO much makeup and I didnt want to look like a clown, but I didnt want to do my makeup myself either. So when I got there the lady asked me what kind of look I wanted and suggested some things and went to go get the makeup she used on me. She worked very fast and my makeup was BRILLIANT. Makeup appointments are "free" but you have to buy 50$ worth of products and Ive been having new lipsticks on my mind for awhile so I already knew what I was gonna get. She did talk me into buying some lashes that she put on me and luckily the lipstick she used was "creme cup" and Ive been wanting that so I got that, too. I didnt really want the eyeshadows or eyeliner or face products she used on me so I went and got another lipstick I wanted- "up the amp." My total was 51$. Perfect! Okay anyways, "creme cup" is a pinkish color that looks so natural and can be worn for everyday looks. See my prom makeup below with creme cup: Creme cup is a cremesheen finish and really shiny I thought, and its super pretty for just about anyone. "Up the amp" is an amplified finish and I found it similar to the satin finish, it goes on so smoothly even on dry lips and is so moisturizing. Plus, the lilac color is perfect for spring. See it below:
These Not Your Mothers products are my EVERYDAY products- Being mixed, Ive tried sooo many products to tame my hair that didnt really work for me and I used to even straighten or curl my hair everyday. Well, my hair was getting so damaged that I decided to just embrace my natural waves and try Not Your Mothers Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray. I loved it and still do, it creates perfect, smooth waves on my frizzy hair. It can be very drying so I try not to use too much at once. Recently Ive come across the Kinky Moves Curl Defining Hair Cream on sale, and for 2$ decided to try it out. This stuff smells amaaazzzing- and gives me CURLS (not waves like the beach babe spray) that I can easily run my fingers through. Too much of this product can make your hair oily, so be careful. Other than that, its amazeballs. I use the Beat The Heat Thermal Shield Spray whenever I use heat on my hair- which is rare. This spray also smells amazing and works pretty well as far as I can tell. I LOVE Not Your Mothers products and cant wait to try more! Comment if youve tried other ones! Oh, by the way all of these were around 5$ each. I recently went to a Lana Del Rey concert and made these flower crowns a couple weeks before. To make these super cute, super easy flower crowns (perfect for concerts) all you will need are these supplies from your local dollar store or hobby lobby: Fake Flowers (alot) Green Floral Wire (thick or thin~whatever you prefer) Green Garden Tape Hot Glue Gun (and LOTS of glue sticks) Pliers/Wire Cutters Scissors! Step 1: Unravel your floral wire, and wrap around your head three times. Then, cut three equal lengths from the wire. This will be the base of your crown. Step 2: Braid the three pieces of floral wire together, and then connect the ends by curving into a circular shape and using either the garden tape or a hot glue gun to secure. Step 3: Pull your flowers off of the stem~ you only need the flowers! Step 4: Glue your flowers around the outside of your headband in any way you desire. After the headband is covered in flowers, you will need to glue some little flowers in any place where the wire is showing~ but NOT on the inside of the crown! Step 5: Now pull the leaves off of the stems that you pulled the flowers from- and glue the leaves on the inside of the headband, to create a cushion so that the wires wont poke your head. Step 6: Primp as needed! I havent made a video tutorial of this yet, so I know some people learn better by seeing, so heres the tutorial I watched! http://youtu.be/qYpnkxFejM8 My hair is thick, wavy, and dry, dry, dry. If you also have damaged hair or if your hair is healthy and you want to KEEP it healthy, this is for you! Olive oil and coconut oils are known to be VERY hydrating and good for your hair and skin. It may seem odd to be putting "cooking" oils on your hair, but its actually very common. I love doing these simple home hair masks because theyre cheap and easy, and make your hair feel amazing even if you only do it once. Heres what I do: Materials: Coconut oil and/or olive oil A small bowl or cup Hair clip or hair tie Step 1: Brush out your hair and section it. Usually I do three sections. Step 2: I fill a little cup (in the picture above) a little less than halfway with olive oil, and then scoop a chunk of coconut oil in. You can make however much you want depending on your hair length/thickness. My hair is short so that little cup is perfect for me. Step 3: Heat the mixture in the microwave for 30-35 seconds. It needs to be warm so when you put in on your hair the pores in your hair open up and absorb it in better (I think. Something like that) Step 4: Usually I pour the oil into my hand little by little (dont pour it all at once!) and run my fingers through my hair, almost like shampooing until my hair is completely covered. Step 5: When your hair is soaked and no more oil is left, put your hair into a bun on the top of your hair, and put on a shower cap to retain the heat and allow your hair to absorb the oil. A plastic bag will work also. I let mine sit for 2-3 hours, but you can let it sit for however long you want. Step 6: When your time is up, just rinse out THOROUGHLY (oil can be hard to rinse out) and continue with shampoo and conditioner. Easy :) Some people heat up the oil and then crack an egg in with the oil and mix it around, but I found that the egg makes your hair very stiff and smelly. But, if you want to try it, it is a very good way to moisturize your hair, and I hear the protein in the egg is good for hair. Please comment if youve done this before, or if this was your first time, tell me how the results were or if you used another combination! |
